Game Recap

The Apple Valley Eagles avenged an early-season loss the Champlin Park, winning the Class AAAA State Championship by a score of 60-54. Trailing by 2 at the half, the Eagles used smothering defense and clutch rebounding to fight their way back into the lead late in the game. The team earned the 3rd state title in 5 years for Head Coach Zach Goring and the Eagle faithful. Tre Jones had this to say in the Pioneer Press, “I grew up in Apple Valley, I’m from Apple Valley, I’ve been going to Apple Valley games my whole life,” Jones said. “Winning another title for my city, it means the most.” Coach Goring, in the Star Tribune, stated, “I’m still a little bit in shock that we were able to do this with a different group of kids,” Goring said. “I thought we could get to the state tournament this year. After that, I didn’t know.”
